Shun shun vs 86of
0.44 cbm with (86of Pioneer)
🙂
$13 for 0.1 cbm (minimum), thereafter pro-rate by 0.01 cbm ($1.30 per 0.01 cbm) up to 0.5 cbm. If exceed 0.5 cbm, will be considered as 1 cbm, no pro-rating in between 0.5 and 1 cbm.
I am buying very heavy stuff, need home delivery. Delivery costs $20 but is free for 0.5 cbm onwards.
When I cart out, I had the option to pay $57.20 (counted as 0.44 cbm via self-collection) or $59 (counted as 0.5 cbm with free home delivery).
Bought blinds (0.1 cbm), mannequin (0.1 cbm), paintings (0.04 and 0.06 cbm) and numerous small items (0.01 - 0.02 cbm) packed in the big green sack.
Takes a while to figure out how 86of works because it is a franchise. Each branch has its own website. 86of.com is Ang Mo Kio, cargosg.com is Boon Lay and so on.
Within Boon Lay, there are 2 collection points (Soon Lee industrial area or a HDB in Taman Jurong). For customer service you have to contact the branch HQ.
Compared to Shun Shun (tried 2 shipments with them), here’s the pros and cons I feel:
86of not as good:
- higher minimum cbm (86of 0.1 vs Shun Shun 0.05 cbm)
- for shun shun, there’s only 1 email and FB. For 86of, you have to contact your branch HQ via WhatsApp and Wechat, may take a while to figure out which is the right number
- slightly more steps involved. If you didn’t buy everything at a go, need to constantly submit details of each item you buy and courier details on their website. For Shunshun, you can buy and send to their warehouse. Once you are done, send an excel with all the item details and courier number to them. After that, do not need to do anything. Once reach SG they will sms you the cbm and price details.
- cheaper delivery for small parcels (Shunshun is $8 per 0.3cbm and free for 1 cbm onwards, 86of is $20 flat and free for 0.5 cbm onwards)
- higher minimum cbm (86of 0.1 vs Shun Shun 0.05 cbm)

86of better:
- pro-rate by 0.01 cbm after minimum versus Shunshun prorate at 0.05 cbm
- many collection points (86of has many branches, within each branch there are HDB collection points too, Shunshun collection is from their office at Tai Seng)
- can monitor your shipment easily (for every parcel, 86of will have a picture of the parcel, weight and cbm recorded. So I could even buy a few more small parcels as I have 0.44 cbm and gonna pay for 0.5 cbm. For shun shun, you will not know the cbm)
- 86of measures each parcel individually, minimum 0.01 cbm per parcel. Shunshun groups all your purchases together to come up with the cbm. If you have odd sized packages, you’ll pay for more “dead space”

That’s all I can think of for the difference between the 2
🙂
Typically for sea shipment, minimum is 1 cbm which I find hard to hit. Glad to have more options such as Shunshun and 86of offering minimum 0.05 cbm and 0.1 cbm respectively
